About 2 to 5 inches of rain so far, with some locally higher amounts. Some moderate to major flooding is in progress or is soon expected.
There are road closings in various places including Rte. 23. At Little Falls, the river will reach 5 feet above flood stage, which is substantial. Hamburg Tpk. is closed at the Pompton Falls bridge.
I drove in to NYC yesterday for a performance of the NY Philharmonic. Driving conditions were awful, much worse than I expected. I was tempted to take the train, but learned that NJ Transit was shutting down service. On the return trip at night, there were numerous areas with power out and downed trees. Wind gusts to 60 mph and higher were reported.
Now flooding will cause major problems in some areas, with the Ramapo and Pompton rivers, especially. Although winds have subsided, the soil is so saturated that falling trees are still possible. Rain will continue on and off through most of Monday.
The concert at Lincoln Ctr. was quite good and surprisingly the hall was filled to capacity. Ricardo Muti conducted the New York philharmonic in the Beethoven Violin concerto and Franck's 4th symphony.
Would it be wrong for a third party to interfere with the doctor / patient relationship? People outside of the medical community, that is. What do you think?
