Budget cuts will cripple weather forecasting. Upper air data to be collected once every 48 hours, instead of once every 12 hours.

A proposal to save money on weather forecasting, is to reduce the upper air observations to once every 48 hours.  This would render the NWS and all private forecasting services, to Stone Age technology.

They cannot be serious. Accurate weather forecasts save lives, each year.  It is a vital part of national security.

I may have a better idea.  Instead of 11 nuclear powered super aircraft carriers, why can't we scrape by with 8?  NYC wants to cut the Fire Dept., Washington wants to cut childhood services.  Is something going wrong here?

Do I sound p***ed Off?  You bet !!!
