It is the last week of spring, here is the summer forecast.

This summer should feature: no prolonged heat waves, hot weather will occur but only of 1 to 3 days in length , shifting between cool dry weather and warm ,humid , rainy spells.  Heavy tropical like downpours will occur in some areas. Not much heat but loads of humidity is likely.

This I derived from Steve DiMartino from NyNjPa weather.

But this forecast is volatile and could be way off with no notice.  It is summer and the jet steam is very fickle in this season.  If you travel north, south or west the summer will be different than here in the northern Mid Atlantic.  California will be stuck in the drought that they have been having.

A cold, snowy winter season is still looking likely, if the current big pattern holds, as it has, the last two winters.  No big changes have developed so far.

HAVE A NICE SUMMER!

With near record cold Sunday night another snow approaches Tuesday. We have been sitting on a keg of snowy gunpowder this winter, but so far, all the big snows have skipped us.  Will our luck run out soon?

Blizzard to Bring NYC to a Standstill Tuesday

Blizzard to Bring NYC to a Standstill Tuesday < click

BLIZZARD WARNING, and we do not see that very often. The skies already have a thin high overcast. That is often seen well in advance of a major storm, and the winds are beginning to stir this afternoon. Despite the veiled sunshine there is a chill that can be felt. The snows will begin after midnight and will continue almost without interruption for the next 48 hours. The snow will fall at first at only 1/4" per hour but by tomorrow afternoon it will approach 1 " per hour. Snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility and make driving hazardous from tomorrow afternoon to well into Tuesday. The snow will taper off later Tuesday but will not stop until very early Wednesday. We should see between 1 and 2 feet of snow , with wind and low temperatures. A powerful jet steam disturbance is already causing radar echoes in the center of the country. This disturbance came out of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. A low pressure center will form on the coast near the Delmarva Peninsula and when it combines with the jet steam disturbance, there will be explosive growth of snowfall. Exactly where the storm will dump the greatest snows is not possible to predict with accuracy. We will be lucky to get only a foot of snow from this one. As of Sunday afternoon, the NWS is forecasting 24" to 36" of snow. Remarkable. The highest amounts that I can ever recall.
It has begun snowing in Western PA already.

FABLE.

A wolf, meeting a lamb that ran astray from the flock, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea to justify to the Lamb the Wolf's right to eat him.

He thus addressed him: "Sirrah, last year you grossly ins
ulted me." " Indeed," bleated the lamb in a mournful tone, " I was not then yet born."

Then, said the Wolf, " You eat in my pasture." " No good sir," said the Lamb," I have not yet tasted grass."

Again said the Wolf, " You drink of my well." Said the Lamb, " I never yet drank of water, for it is my mother's milk that provides me both food and drink."

Upon which the Wolf , seized the lamb and ate him up and exclaimed, "Well, I won't remain supperless even though you refute each one of my imputations."
The tyrant will always find a pretext for his tyranny.
